Things to do while in Moshi / Travelling Tanzania

If you are going to come this far, well there is plenty more to see before leaving. Tanzania is a beautiful and diverse country. Most famously it is home to the Serengeti, and has a massive 25% of its land designated as game reserves and so they are protected by the government. There is so much to do here you would need months to get around to it all.

Safaris

Safaris are the most obvious and popular attraction, with 2-7 day safaris available which take you elephant spotting, lion chasing and camping in the wilds of the Serengeti. Within a days drive of Moshi there are numerous National Parks such as Lake Manyara known for its tree climbing lions and elephants that walk up to your jeep, Ngorogoro Crater, the largest unbroken crater in the world, densely populated by herds of wildebeest and zebra, and Tarangire National Park.

Mountain climbing

For mountaineers there is Kilimanjaro on the doorstep, a 6 day climb to the snow-capped summit at 5800m, the highest peak in Africa, Mount Meru, a spectacular volcanic crater and Oldoinyo Lengai, an active volcano along the Kenyan border lying within the Maasai territory.

Zanzibar

Zanzibar can be reached by one days traveling from Moshi. Its beaches provide days of sunbathing or diving, while the town, Stone Town is a beautiful throw-back to the colonial era with narrow cobbled streets and fresh sea food.

Other attractions

Walks in the Pare mountains, visits to tribal villages and shopping in African craft markets are just some of the activities available to those based in Moshi and traveling around Tanzania.
