Although there are hotels in Moshi, there are no other hostels in Moshi like the Hoff, which has the space and atmosphere for people to relax, have fun, chat, work, watch DVDs etc. People come from all around the world and stay from a few nights to a few months. It is located just 5 mins walk from town and a 1500Tsh (less than 1 euro) taxi ride from any of the restaurants in town, but in a very quiet area with a large garden.

Accommodation at the hostel is in dorm rooms, accommodating up to 20 people when full. There are between 2-6 beds per room depending on the size of the room and the time of year you come (off-season there will commonly be 1-2 per room, high season, well, its an opportunity to make more close friends!). The emphasis at the hostel is placed on a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Most people who stay are traveling alone and so it gives an opportunity for people to live with and make friends with other travelers and volunteers. There are many common sitting areas and rooms, so there is space to carry out different activities. There are also many supplies left in the hostel by previous travelers/volunteers that are for common use, such as paper, paints, medical supplies etc.

Services provided

Breakfast and dinner are provided for everyone and laundry is included. There are 6 full time staff who are friendly, trustworthy and are very keen to learn English. Everything is provided at the hostel, from water filters and mosquito nets, to books and DVDs.

Booking

To book, please contact us directly. No booking is secure until the deposit has been paid. The deposit is calculated as 25% of the cost for your stay and is non refundable (of course, the circumstances will be taken into account, but you will not be refunded if you hook up with a Maasai and move into his Boma, for example!)

If you are coming from abroad I have decided that there are 3 rules:

Firstly, you must bring a poster, picture or something that either represents where you are coming from or is just plain funky.

Secondly, I would like you to bring your favorite book and add it to the book collection.

Thirdly, and very importantly, you must bring chocolate. Except if you are American, because, lets face it, American chocolate sucks. But you can buy it in Amsterdam on your way through!

You get a ‘discount’ if you can teach me guitar. In fact, I think that’ll be a new volunteer project.

You also get a ‘discount’ if you bring a life size poster of David Hasselhoff.

You can only stay at the Hostel Hoff if you truly love the Hoff. If you don’t know who the Hoff is, please return to the 90’s and watch some Baywatch reruns. Legend.
